Dr. John Constantino Named 2026 Recipient of Jovita Moore Spirit of Community Award

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Behavioral Health Chief to Be Honored at February Gala

ATLANTA – January 12, 2026

Our House, Inc. is pleased to announce John Constantino, MD, Chief of Behavioral and Mental Health at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, as the 2026 recipient of the Jovita Moore Spirit of Community Award.

Dr. Constantino will be honored February 7, 2026, at Our House’s annual OH What a Night Gala, taking place at the Atlanta History Center.

The award recognizes Dr. Constantino’s innovative leadership in expanding access to behavioral health services for children and adolescents across Georgia. Since joining Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in 2022, he has led efforts to transform the state’s pediatric mental health landscape through early intervention, community partnerships, and evidence-based care delivery.

“Dr. Constantino’s work embodies the spirit of this award and demonstrates the profound impact that community-centered leadership can have on families,” said Tyese Lawyer, Chief Executive Officer of Our House, Inc. “His dedication to improving mental health outcomes for Georgia’s most vulnerable children aligns perfectly with our commitment to improving health equity and supporting healthy families. For children and youth experiencing homelessness, access to compassionate, high-quality mental health care can be particularly life-changing, helping to stabilize families and create pathways to long-term well-being.”

As Children’s Chief of Behavioral and Mental Health and holder of the Liz and Frank Blake Chair for Children’s Behavioral and Mental Health, Dr. Constantino oversees a behavioral health initiative that aims to address the growing mental health crisis impacting children and adolescents throughout Georgia by transforming the system of care, enhancing access to treatment, and pioneering prevention. His leadership has resulted in the opening of the Zalik Behavioral and Mental Health Center in 2023, expanding prevention and crisis recovery services for children statewide.

Dr. Constantino also serves as professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine. His research on autism spectrum disorders and social development has made him one of the most cited child psychiatrists in the field.

The Jovita Moore Spirit of Community Award was established in 2022 to honor the late WSB-TV anchor’s dedication to serving underserved children and families in metro Atlanta. Moore, who died in October 2021 after a battle with brain cancer, was a passionate supporter of Our House and helped champion the organization’s mission through her community involvement.

The OH What a Night Gala is Our House’s signature fundraising event, supporting the organization’s comprehensive and evidence-based programs, offering housing, early childhood education, health care, workforce development and family advocacy for families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The 2026 theme is “Home is Where the Heart Is.” For tickets and sponsorship information, please visit ourhousega.org/gala.
