Donating Stocks and Securities
Many Our House donors make contributions in the form of appreciated securities. By doing this, you can avoid all capital gains taxes. Also, if you have held your stock or real estate for 12 months or longer, you will receive a charitable deduction for its full value.
When using wire transfer methods for stock, our financial institution is not informed of the donor. Please contact our office to inform us of the transfer, so that we may send acknowledgements promptly. To give appreciated securities or real estate, please tell your broker how many shares you want to contribute to Our House. Your broker will need this information to complete the transfer:

Planned gifts are a way for a donor to leave a legacy. While planned gifts can assume the form of cash or securities, they typically are made in the form of will bequests, charitable trusts and gift annuities. A planned gift not only helps to make a significant difference in a homeless child’s education or in a homeless family’s life, but also creates a legacy that illuminates the generosity of the donor while helping to ensure an ongoing future for Our House.
